Scam Examples
lostfurbabiesrescue.com – Another Scam Website
This scammer seems to be communicating via an Instagram account. The account isn’t visible anymore, but the website still exists and is packed with stolen MARN information. The website is registered to a web designer in Nigeria. They state that they will come out for $120 dollars and another $120 once the pet is found.

Beware of Fake ACO Text Messages with Online Reclaiming Fees
Individuals are being texted by someone claiming to be an ACO or Animal Control Officer. They are sending out codes to people so they can pay the reclaiming fee online. Please if your pet is found by a shelter physically go to the shelter to not only pick up your found pet but pay the reclaiming fee at the shelter!!
Beware of Text Messages Asking for Codes.
Lost pet owners are receiving text messages from someone saying that they have the missing pet and before they tell you anything they ask for a code. This code is then used to take over your account and it even gives the scammer access to change your phone number for the 2-step verification on your account.
